The Frari concert season is one of the most longer-lived in the city. Born as small Guest organ in 1970 following restoration of the two precious instruments made by Giovan Battista Piaggia in 1732 and by Gaetano Callindo in 1795, and the relocation behind the altar piece of Tiziano of Vincenzo Mascioni (1928), the Frari season has been cured until 1994 by Friar Giovanni Pasqualetti, active Musician of the Basilica dei Frari, and after his death from a staff from me coordinated in quality of organist holder and a concert performer.
In recent years, in addition to concerts in which the organ was the protagonist, we have cooperated with important orchestras and ensembles, coming not only from Italy but also from many countries in Europe and America.
It is always demanding choose between the various interesting proposals that annually arrive in the Basilica, but we believe that the large public willingly participate in the evenings dei Frari is witness to the quality that distinguishes our concerts.
It is not our intention, in fact, satisfy either the tastes of each: every evening in Venice, dozens of concert halls welcome spectators to each type. Who choose to come to Frari SA, meanwhile, that will be in a church, and therefore that the directory will aim to a spiritual involvement; it has, moreover, the fact that the concerts are never repeated the same way, and for this retain that freshness that the musicians certainly relays with enthusiasm. Of course we know that the public is formed by experts that profane in music matter: in the preparation of the programmes of the various evenings, it is this to performers, that in addition to the splendid pages repertoires "challenging", is also important to propose some songs from more easy to listen, in order to involve the entire public with proposals of great cultural value.
In the Basilica dei Frari, since its construction, the culture has played an important role, and even today, the Community of the Frari promotes important artistic projects.
That is currently the only example in Venice – and one of very rare in Italy – of two choirs with ancient organs perfectly efficient and set – on " Cantoria " left the oldest working of Venice, built by Giovan Battista Piaggiain 1732, which corresponds to the right instrument built by Gaetano Callido together in 1796 – and in the same site, on main altar, reigns one of the most imposing organ of the city, completed in 1928 by Vincenzo Mascioni.
It is clear, therefore, that the concert season, with three important instruments, to devote more space to concerts in which the organ is the protagonist.
