The "ATENEO VENETO" of Sciences, Letters and Arts is a building in Venice, located in the San Marco district, in Campo San Fantin, where the church of the same name and the Teatro la Fenice stand. The Ateneo Veneto is the oldest cultural institute in operation in Venice. Established in 1812, it has been operating for over two centuries in the exclusive pursuit of social solidarity objectives: its aim is to cooperate in the development and dissemination of science, literature and the arts, in all their manifestations. In particular, it promotes the study of what has a relationship with Venice, with the defense of its heritage and with the social and cultural growth of its inhabitants. Its headquarters, the sixteenth-century building already known as the "Scuola dei Picai", is a space open to the city of Venice: throughout the year hundreds of opportunities for cultural and scientific debate, moments of training and dissemination come to life in it , events dedicated to the arts and sciences, all with free admission. Not only the initiatives included in the Academic Programme, promoted by the institution itself, but also numerous initiatives that the Veneto University deems worthy of hospitality and consistent with its objectives take place there. There are many activities, all free, with which the Veneto University aims to achieve its statutory objectives. In addition to the promotion of its cultural program, there is the establishment of research prizes, the publication of studies and monographs, the conservation and implementation of its own library in which over 60 thousand works are made available to the public, 20 thousand of which concern Venice and the Veneto.
