The Church of San Raffaele Arcangelo, also known as the Church of Angelo Raffaele, is a religious building in the city of Venice, located in the Dorsoduro district. The church stands in one of the oldest areas of the city, among the first to be permanently inhabited. At the beginning of the 17th century, the precarious structural condition of the building necessitated a further complete reconstruction, which was completed in 1639 by the architect Francesco Contin, originally from Lugano. Work on the interior decorations, particularly the creation of paintings and statues, continued into the 18th century, and was concluded between 1743 and 1749. The imposing two-manual organ was built in 1749 by Gaetano Amigazzi and renovated in 1821 by the brothers Antonio and Agostino Callido, sons of the more famous Gaetano. It was later rebuilt by the Bazzani brothers in 1848 and again in 1862; in 1961 it underwent careful restoration by the Tamburini company.
